Job Summary:

As a Data Engineer Principal, you will lead complex engagements, provide technical vision, and inspire teams to deliver scalable, high-quality data solutions. You’ll combine deep technical expertise with strong consulting and leadership skills, guiding clients and internal teams toward data excellence.
What you’ll get to do
You will be part of a Data Engineering group of curious, collaborative, and highly skilled professionals. This team designs and implements modern, cloud-based data pipelines, platforms, and architectures that enable analytics, machine learning, and real-time insights. As a Principal, you will:
Core Operational Functions:
- Principal Consulting on Enterprise Data Engineering Initiatives — Advise clients on data platform strategy, modern architectures, and best practices for building scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions.
- Technical Leadership — Define and oversee end-to-end solution architecture, ensuring quality, performance, and maintainability across projects.
- Solution Implementation & Guidance — Collaborate with delivery teams to design, build, and deploy data pipelines, integration frameworks, and automation tools.
- Pre-Sales & Advisory — Partner with sales teams to develop proposals, lead discovery sessions, and create Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and Proof of Value (PoVs) to demonstrate solution feasibility and value.
- Thought Leadership — Contribute to industry presence through public speaking, publishing technical articles, and building hands-on labs.
- Innovation & R&D — Develop reusable tools, accelerators, and templates to improve delivery velocity and consistency.
- Mentorship — Coach and support engineers, fostering technical growth and cross-team knowledge sharing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration — Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to translate business needs into engineered solutions.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience leading large-scale data engineering initiatives in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Expertise in building and optimizing modern data pipelines and architectures using technologies such as DBT, Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
- Strong proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python, Java, or Kotlin
- Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Azure Synapse) and big data platforms (Spark, Presto, Amazon EMR)
- Knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes) and CI/CD automation for data workflows
- Ability to design and implement streaming data solutions using tools like Kafka or Kinesis
- Strong consulting skills with the ability to engage executive stakeholders and translate technical concepts into business value
- Demonstrated thought leadership through conference speaking, publishing, or community contributions
- Hands-on experience delivering production-grade data solutions that meet high standards for quality, scalability, and security
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field; relevant certifications (Snowflake, AWS, GCP, Azure) are a plus.
